Visit Metro

Please note that while the CDC has lifted mask recommendations for fully vaccinated people, it remains Metro Baptist Church & Rauschenbusch Metro Ministries' policy that all persons (vaccinated or unvaccinated) entering our building must wear a mask and keep masks on while in common areas where others are present.  Thank you for your understanding and compliance with this policy in order to ensure the safety of all who are in our space.  Please contact Pastor Tiffany if you have any questions about this policy.

Metro's worship team is making plans for our transition back to in-person worship. We have set Sunday, September 12 as our "Homecoming Sunday," when our physical doors will once again be open wide to those who want to experience in-person worship and our virtual doors will remain open wide for those who want to join us remotely.  Over the next 3 months, we will be making the transition to our new hybrid mode of worship, designed to include all who want to commune with Metro in the short and long-term.  For more information, visit our Worship page, sign up for our weekly Metro Life email, or send us an email.

Join us for worship at Metro at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Come as you are. You can expect a warm welcome. After worship we join together for coffee hour in the sanctuary and would love for you to join us for coffee and light refreshments to get to know us better.

We are located at 410 W. 40th St. (between 9th and 10th Avenues) in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan. If arriving by Subway, we are steps away from the Port Authority and Times Square/42nd St Stations. If arriving from New Jersey, we are located at the end of the Lincoln Tunnel and parking is often available on 9th Avenue.

Like many churches, we follow the Revised Common Lectionary in our worship. It breaks up the Bible into three years so that over three years, much of the Bible is read. Weekly lectionary texts can be found here.

While we are open to all, our building is not yet accessible by wheelchair. It is our primary goal for our building. In the past, wheelchair users have allowed us to assist them in entering the building. We would welcome this chance but we completely understand if this is not feasible for you.

Children are welcome in our service and we have several ways for children to engage the life of our church. Rocking chairs can be found in the back of the sanctuary for parents and caregivers of babies. Optional childcare for children birth-3yrs is provided in the middle of the service for any families that want to utilize it. Children ages 4 and up are also invited to a focused Children's Time during a portion of our morning worship service. More about our Children's Ministry Programs here.

Become a Member

If you're interested in becoming a member of Metro, we would love to speak with you about it.  Please contact Pastor Tiffany here. Membership is open to anyone who publicly professes faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and wants to join our church in our mission and vision.

If you are a Christian and are not active in a church, we invite you to become a vital part of our community. Metro is an open membership church, so your previous confession and baptism in any other Christian tradition is honored and received.

If you have never made a confession of faith, we invite you to do so and receive Christian baptism at Metro.

Our community is wide and inclusive of many attendees who are not formally "members," but we greatly value the relationship and commitment shared between our church and our members. Every time a new member joins the church, we affirm the decision by saying "Amen."  It's a way of acknowledging that with each new member, we have become different.  We are more than we were before.  We are a collection of people doing our best to love God and love our neighbor, and we would love for you to join us.
